It actually slipped my mind that the Scott Cooper-directed, Guillermo del Toro-produced horror film Antlers is set to reach theatres this Friday, October 29th, so I’m glad a clip from it has been released online to remind me. This clip can be seen in the embed above – but if you want to avoid Antlers SPOILERS, I wouldn’t recommend checking it out. The clip features a creature attacking someone, so it appears to give away a character death.

Based on Nick Antosca’s short story The Quiet Boy, the film was scripted by Antosca and C. Henry Chaisson, with revisions by Cooper. Here’s the synopsis:

In an isolated Oregon town, a middle-school teacher (Keri Russell) and her sheriff brother (Jesse Plemons) become embroiled with her enigmatic student (Jeremy T. Thomas) whose dark secrets lead to terrifying encounters with a legendary ancestral creature who came before them.

Russell, Plemons, and Thomas are joined in the cast by Graham Greene, Amy Madigan, Scott Haze, and Rory Cochrane.

J. Miles Dale and David S. Goyer produced Antlers with del Toro. Smoke Signals director Chris Eyre served as a consultant.

We’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time, so I’m glad we’re now so close to its release. Finally. Our own Gaius Bolling already had the chance to watch Antlers and gave the film an 8/10 review, which you can read at THIS LINK.

The movie was originally scheduled to receive a theatrical release on April 17, 2020, but ended up being delayed eighteen months due to the pandemic. In the build-up to this Friday’s release, it has been screened at Beyond Fest, the Sitges International Film Festival, the Chicago International Film Festival, the Telluride Horror Show, and as a Fantastic Fest Presents Special Screening.
