The holiday season is fast approaching, and these velvet dresses are the perfect style inspiration to make your small 2020 gatherings still feel festive!
It’s just about the time of year to start breaking out your very best velvet looks! While holiday parties and gatherings won’t be the same in 2020 due to the coronavirus, velvet looks are still a key trend to wear even during the smallest holiday events. Over the years, so many stars have worn velvet ensembles that would be perfect for the holiday season.
While hosting her Diamond Ball in 2019, Rihanna looked like a queen in her long-sleeved, velvet dress. The outfit featured a flared, white skirt at the bottom, so RiRi paired it with matching white heels. Red lipstick is also always perfect for the holiday season, and Rihanna showed us just how to rock the hue with a velvet outfit. Plus, her updo with long bangs completed the look in the best way.
Meanwhile, Lily Collins went for a much more flirty look with her velvet outfit. While walking the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival, she wore a tiny black mini dress, which she paired with tights. Tights are a great way to dress up a velvet look in the colder weather. Lily’s dress also featured one dramatic sleeve, which was adorned with a red pattern. She wore her hair slicked back in a tight bun and also added a pop of red lipstick.
Katy Perry proved that velvet is the way to go for the holidays by wearing a velvet ensemble to perform at a holiday concert — Jingle Ball — in 2019. She paired her purple and pink mini dress with matching pink boots. Although the colors didn’t necessarily fit the holiday theme, the vibe of the look totally did.
We also loved Cardi B’s amazing look on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet in 2019. She wore a pink, off-the-shoulder velvet dress. The outfit had a hi-low hemline, and Cardi wore matching pink shoes with the look. There are plenty of more amazing velvet ensembles where these came from, though — and you can click through the gallery above to check them out!
