It’s a FREAKY FRIDAY situation but with a terrifying twist FREAKY, the latest from writer and director Christopher Landon, and now we have an extended first look intriguingly titled “Slaughterhouse” that showcases all of the body-swapping terror.
FREAKY comes to us from Jason Blum and Blumhouse Productions and the story follows a young high school girl (Kathryn Newton) that swaps bodies with a deranged serial killer called The Butcher (Vince Vaughn). It becomes a race against time when she realizes that she has less than 24 hours before the swap becomes permanent but the only problem is she now looks like a towering psychopath who’s the target of a city-wide manhunt while The Butcher looks like her and has brought his appetite for carnage to Homecoming. The film also stars Uriah Shelton, Alan Ruck, Katie Finneran, Celeste O’ Connor, and Misha Osherovich.
Christopher Landon is directing and co-writing the project with Michael Kennedy also taking on writing duties. I happened to like what Landon did with HAPPY DEATH DAY and HAPPY DEATH DAY 2 U so I’m all in on what this film has to offer. By the way, FREAKY has the most perfect release date this year as it hits screens on Friday, November 13, 2020. It should be mandatory to spend Friday the 13th with a horror film and this sounds like the perfect companion.
