Break out the 12-sided dice and get ready to nerd it up! Hasbro has found a lead for the latest attempt at adapting the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons for the big screen. Captain Kirk himself Chris Pine has joined the cast of the fantasy epic from writer/director duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.
The Spider-Man: Homecoming scribes have been linked to the D&D movie since 2019 but this is the biggest piece to fall into place since that announcement. This is the latest franchise attempt to bring the iconic Wizards of the Coast game to the big screen. Previous attempts have been marred by legal battles over rights to the property with the most recent Warner Bros attempt with LEGO Batman director Chris McKay behind the camera.
Pine has a busy slate with Wonder Woman 1984 hitting Christmas Day and Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling currently in production. A fourth Star Trek film has been in doubt for some time and this news may put a nail in that coffin with the actor committing to what could be a multi-film franchise.
More to come …
