Samantha Jones can’t — and won’t — be replaced.
According to Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall won’t be replaced in the upcoming ‘Sex and the City’ reboot.

Parker, the show’s star and executive producer, was spotted in New York on Wednesday and said Cattrall’s departure doesn’t mean a different actor will join the three remaining leads.
“We’re not looking to create a fourth character,” Parker, 55, revealed, adding, “We have New York City as a great character. There will be lots of interesting new characters that we’re excited about.”
Original stars Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have all signed on for the upcoming HBO Max series — without Cattrall, who has expressed her distaste over the last several years for Parker and any future “SATC” projects.
Parker also said Wednesday that the cast hasn’t started filming yet and that the COVID-19 vaccine “is playing a major role in that.”
But she she can’t wait to be “shooting in the city that we love,” saying she’s “hoping to be part of a city that’s able to support our businesses and culture and institutions that have been closed down and the business that have been hurt in the process.”
This week, Parker confirmed that the 10-episode reboot, called “And Just Like That…,” will debut on HBO Max.
Parker has stated that she’ll miss Cattrall while filming the new series, despite their alleged feud.
Meanwhile, Cattrall, 64, has yet to publicly comment on not joining the reboot but did suggest via Twitter that she was “putting herself first.”
We’ll see how it goes without Samantha. It might be okay — or it might be terrible. ‘Girlfriends’ without Toni Childs wasn’t…terrible.
