Universal Pictures has announced a bit of a surprise for Halloween fans as they’ve revealed that Halloween Kills will be released day-and-date in both theaters and the Peacock streaming service on October 15th.
Universal Pictures released The Boss Baby: Family Business in a similar manner earlier this summer, and it does give folks who can’t go to a theater the chance to see the movie in their own home… provided Peacock is available for them. The streaming service will run you either $4.99 or $9.99 a month depending on if you want the ad-free plan, and Halloween Kills be will available for free to subscribers.
Halloween Kills recently debuted at the Venice International Film Festival and unfortunately, the first reviews were decidedly mixed. If you’re looking for grisly and brutal violence, it sounds as though the sequel has that in spades, but doesn’t advance the characters in the same way the original did. I suppose it won’t be too much longer before we can decide for ourselves. Taking place immediately after the first film, Halloween Kills follows Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer), and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) as they leave Michael Myers to burn in the basement of Laurie’s house. Michael naturally escapes and the Strode women join up with other survivors to form a mob in order to hunt Michael down.
