An increasing number of actors and directors have flocked to Netflix as the streaming service seems to offer free rein and nearly unlimited money, and one of those actors is Ryan Reynolds. The DEADPOOL actor has two Netflix films under his belt, including Micheal Bay’s 6 UNDERGROUND and Rawson Marshall Thurber’s upcoming RED NOTICE, and Reynolds’ next project for the streaming service will be THE ADAM PROJECT, an action-adventure film slated to be directed by Shawn Levy.
The cast of THE ADAM PROJECT has begun to grow as THR has reported that Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldana are slated to join Reynolds in the project. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s been said that Reynolds will be playing a man who must travel back in time in order to get help from his 13-year old self, and together, they encounter their late father, who is now the same age as Reynolds’ character. Jennifer Garner will be playing the 13-year-old boy’s mother, while Zoe Saldana will be playing the adult character’s wife, a fighter pilot. Jonathan Tropper (Banshee) is penning the script, which will be a rewrite based on the previous draft by Mark Levin & Jennifer Flackett (Big Mouth), and T.S. Nowlin (THE MAZE RUNNER). This new project will also be the first for Ryan Reynolds’ The Group Effort Initiative, “a self-financed diversity and inclusion program from that aims to give people of color, across all ages, a chance to work and learn on the actor’s productions.“
Jennifer Garner will next be seen in YES DAY, a Netflix comedy based on the children’s book by Tom Lichtenheld and Amy Krouse Rosenthal that revolves around parents attempting to make it through an entire day by only saying “yes” to their children’s requests. Zoe Saldana will next be seen reprising her role of Neytiri in James Cameron’s AVATAR sequels, the first of which is slated to hit theaters on December 15, 2022. As for Ryan Reynolds, the actor has a variety of projects on the horizon, including THE CROODS: A NEW AGE, FREE GUY, THE HITMAN’S WIFE’S BODYGUARD, and RED NOTICE.
