Batwoman, Leah Gibson, Nathan Owens

Someone must have flipped on the Bat-signal because Leah Gibson (WATCHMEN, Jessica Jones) and Nathan Owen (Devious Maids, Days of Our Lives) just answered the call for recurring roles on the CW’s BATWOMAN. Both will join Javicia Leslie and Shivaani Ghai during the show’s second season, which is slated to premiere in January.

According to Deadline, Gibson will play Tatiana aka “The Whisper.” She is a skilled assassin, unflappable and cold as ice in the face of danger. She is one of Safiyah’s most important henchwomen and still harbors feelings for her powerful boss. Meanwhile, Owens will portray Ocean, a zen gardner and thinker with a complicated past. A loyal soldier and fighter, Ocean moves to Gotham looking for a new beginning.

Superhero fans are likely to recognize Gibson for her recurring role as Inez in season 2 of Jessica Jones. Others may know her as Vivienne, a former stripper, and devote believer in the Kevinian cult from season 1 of Sacred Lies. As for Owens, he’s recently spent a lot of his time while shirtless when playing Jesse Morgan for Devious Maids. He also starred as the character Cameron Davis for an impressive 152 episodes of Days of Our Lives.

When Leslie swings onto BATWOMAN for its sophomore season, she’ll do so as a new character named Ryan Wilder. Described as “likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed,” Wilder will become the show’s new Batwoman, succeeding Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane. As for Ghai, she’ll star as Safiyah, a character who was referenced several times in the show’s first season. As the fiercely protective ruler of a small community on the island of Coryana, Safiya is labeled as a woman with as many enemies as aliases. She is compassionate and charismatic with both physical and psychological prowess. She is beloved by her people and will stop at nothing to protect what’s hers. No one goes unnoticed by Safiyah, specifically when it comes to those who have encountered the Desert Rose.

Can you believe that the second season of Batwoman is expected to hit this coming January? Personally, I can’t wait to meet Ryan Wilder, and discover exactly how she takes over as Batwoman for Kate Kane. Will you be tuning in for the new season? Let us know in the comments section below.
