DC Fandome 2021 is officially in full swing, and we’ve got a new Peacemaker teaser trailer to help celebrate the occasion.
The Peacemaker teaser trailer finds John Cena reprising his titular role from The Suicide Squad, and he’s assembled a brand-new team of misfits to help him kill a bunch of people in the name of peace. The trailer puts plenty of humor on display by introducing audiences to a host of wacky superhero scenarios, bizarre team-building strategies, and eagle hugs! Yes, eagle hugs!
Per DC’s official press release:
Written and directed by James Gunn and produced by Peter Safran, Peacemaker debuts on HBO Max on Thursday, January 13. Peacemaker will explore the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in James Gunn’s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.
The series stars John Cena (F9: The Fast Saga, Vacation Friends) as Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks (Close Enough) as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma (Pitch Perfect, Bridgerton) as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland (Sun Records, The Suicide Squad) as Harcourt, Steve Agee (The Suicide Squad, Superstore) as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji (Designated Survivor, John Wick: Chapter 2) as Murn, and Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Faculty) as Auggie Smith.
Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Peacemaker and directed five, including the first. Gunn, Safran, and Matt Miller serve as executive producers on the series, with Cena as co-executive producer. Based on characters from DC, Peacemaker is produced by Gunn’s Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
DC’s new Peacemaker teaser trailer is getting me hyped for James Gunn’s Suicide Squad spin-off. The series looks like a great vehicle for Cena and a chance for him to spread his comedic wings. Let’s do this!
