The Gray Man, The Russo Brothers, Regé-Jean Page, Netflix, Alfre Woodard

Bridgerton break-out star Regé-Jean Page, Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton have joined the cast of The Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man. The Russos sold the star-studded feature to Netflix over the summer, with Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, and Julia Butters rounding out the cast. Production begins in two weeks in Los Angeles, with reports saying the film will be the biggest-budget feature in Netflix’s history.

The Russos penned the script which is set to receive a once-over by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The debut novel by Mark Greaney, first published in 2009 by Jove Books, is the first novel to feature the Gray Man, a freelance assassin and former CIA operative Court Gentry. Presented to audiences as an action drama, The Gray Man follows Gentry (Gosling) as he’s hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort of Gentry’s at the CIA. The film is based on the first installment of the best-selling The Gray Man book series.

Best known for his role as Simon Basset on Netflix’s Bridgerton, Page recently signed on to star in Hasbro and Paramount’s Dungeons & Dragons. The high fantasy feature also stars Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984), Michelle Rodriguez (Resident EvilFast & Furious 9), and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: DominionAll the Bright Places).

Meanwhile, Billy Bob Thornton recently completed work work on David E. Kelly and Jonathan Shapiro’s Goliath TV series for Amazon Prime. Thornton will star as Billy McBride, a disgraced lawyer, now an ambulance chaser, who gets a case that could bring him redemption or at least revenge on the firm which expelled him.

Last but certainly not least by any stretch of the imagination, Alfre Woodard recently wrapped her contribution to Paul Weitz’s Fatherhood. In the upcoming film, a father brings up his baby girl as a single dad after the unexpected death of his wife who died a day after their daughter’s birth. Woodard will play a character named Marian in Weitz’s dramatic feature.

We’ll be sure to bring you the details for The Gray Man as the film continues to come together.
