Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The film also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng.
Filming began on the project in February 2020 but was put on hold in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed in August before the film finally wrapped in October. The film was shuffled a bit on the calendar due to the pandemic but Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings will finally be released on September 3, 2021, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
Unlike Marvel’s Black Widow, Shang-Chi is respecting the theatrical window and will not be released simultaneously on Disney+. Many believe that Shang-Chi will be the real test of Marvel’s powers at the box office as movie theaters continue to come out of the wreckage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Do YOU think Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings will find success?
